M24308 – The best value for money solution

GENERAL INFORMATION

This specification M24308 covers the requirements for nonenvironmental, polarized shell, miniature, rack and panel connectors having pin and socket, crimp (removable), solder (nonremovable) with rigid or float mounting.

M24308 D-subminiature ( also known as D-SUB) connectors are widely used in a variety of applications where weight & dimensions are the most concerned.

M24308 connectors are usually used for applications such as military and/or civil equipment, communication systems, industrial instrumentations, space flight equipments….and more.

From the  civil to the military application, two version of contacts are available under specifaction MIL-DTL-24308 :

Solder contacts : note that eyelet or solder cup terminals are already installed in the insert

Crimp contacts : They are in accordance with the AS39029 (M39029) depending on the choice of the « standard » or « High Density » version D-sub connector. Another benefit could be the use of standard crimping tool ( M22520/2-01) regarding the wiring process.

A large choice of accessoires is available such as backshells ( under M85049 specifications) from the straight cable clamp to the 90° version in order to facilitate your wiring at the rear of the connector

Moreover, M24308 D-subminiature connectors are divided into classes as follow:

• Classes G for use in general applications
  Classes N used to identify Nonmagnetic versions
  Class H used to identify Hermetic versions
  Class D, K, and M connectors for space applications

  K = Zinc nickel
  T = Nickel Fluorocarbon Polymer
  P = Passivated stainless steel
  Z = Zinc

Class N :

• A = Pure electrodeposited aluminum
  F = Cadmium
  K = Zinc nickel
  T = Nickel Fluorocarbon Polymer
  P = Passivated stainless steel
  Z = Zinc

Class H:

• Connectors have a tin finish, no suffix required

Class M:

• Connectors have a gold finish, no suffix is required
   

Classes D and K:

• Class D and class K connectors have a nickel. finish, no suffix is required
