The most popular plastic clamp The ABS1339
The ABS1339 standard is one of the most popular plastic clamp designed to secure the electrical harness on the structure of the aircraft.
They are mainly used in both areas in an aircraft, pressurised and unpressurised.
The rubber cushion inside of the clamp protects the electrical bundle from vibrations.
If necessary, an additional protection tape ASNA5107 can be added on the harness to avoid damaged and guaranty a better cable grip.
The use of this protection tape can also be adapted to the diameter of the bundle to the clamp.
Concerning the installation, the clamp is maintained first on the structure (by using a screw and a washer) then locked by a cable tie.
Moreover, pre-mounting on structure is possible. First, the ABS1339 clamp is mounted on the structure, on a second time the harness can be installed then it can be closed.
This cable tie shall be tightened with a suitable tool in accordance with the associated “AIPI” ( Airbus Process Instruction).
They are available in 8 sizes, for bundles diameters ranging from 5 to 48 mm.
Plastic clamps ABS1339 has a weight saving advantage compared to the metal clamps (example : NSA5516or MS21919)
In addition, since 2014, a lightweight version has been added on the spec. which offers 18% weight saving compared to the standard version.
Furthermore, various diameters allow installation inside the cabin service systems or for in-flight entertainment application.
The ABS1339 has two different options available depending of the installation zone, one for general use and the other for fuel immersions.
